Asst. Prof. Ljiljana Stević attended the scientific Oriental Business and Innovation Centre
(OBIC) Conference titled ‘Challenges and Sustainability in the Post-Covid-19 Era: Asian
Responses to Economic, Security, and Social Dilemmas’ held on 5-6th May 2022, in
Budapest.
During this two-day conference, participants had the opportunity to listen to and discuss
different topics, ranging from geopolitics to intercultural relations, and analyse the various
responses to the challenges that emerged during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Ljiljana Stević, PhD, chaired the panel titled ‘Environment and Sustainability’ and presented
the paper ‘Post-Covid Environmental Challenges and its Implications on China’s Foreign
Policy’ co-authored with the colleague from the Belgrade Faculty of Political Science
Slobodan Popović, PhD.
This was also an excellent opportunity to present the University of Banja Luka, its
accomplishments and future plans regarding the launching of a new study programme
Sinology at the Faculty of Philology, aim of which is to keep up with contemporary trends
and invest in researching China and Asia.
The Oriental Business and Innovation Centre (OBIC) was established by the Budapest
Business School, University of Applied Sciences (BBS) and the Magyar Nemzeti Bank in
2016. OBIC’s overall goal is to improve the competitiveness of the Hungarian economy by
contributing to a better understanding of the Southeast Asian region. In that regard, the OBIC
aspires to become a leading institution in oriental business studies — not only in Hungary,
but also in the broader Central European region.
