Conference of Sinologists from the Region

The conference entitled "Sinology Meetup", organized by the Confucius Institute, the Sinology Department, and the Sinology Research Centre at the Faculty of Philology of the University of Banja Luka, was held on 14 March 2025 at the Faculty of Political Science.


At the international conference, which brought together sinologists from Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and PR China and professors from other study programmes of the University of Banja Luka, discussions were held on the influence of Chinese culture on the study of the Chinese language, the first messengers of knowledge about China, Chinese literature and culture in the region, the importance of music in traditional Chinese society, as well as cultural and linguistic differences in contemporary Chinese pop culture.


The conference was attended by Prof. Ivana Buljan, PhD, Head of the Sinology Department at the University of Zagreb, Prof. Ivica Bakota, PhD, Capital Normal University of Beijing, PR China, Selena Pjević, professor at the Philological Grammar School in Belgrade and teaching assistant at the Sinology Study Programme of the Faculty of Philology of the University of Banja Luka, Min Zhang, PhD student at the Faculty of Political Science of the University of Banja Luka, Željka Babić and Emir Muhić, professors at the Faculty of Philology of the University of Banja Luka, as well as Ljiljana Stević, Bojana Pavlović, Anja Mudrenović and Sonja Stanković, from the Sinology Study Programme at the Faculty of Philology of the University of Banja Luka. The forum was also attended by other professors and students of the University of Banja Luka.
