Confucius Institute Participated in the Celebration of World Music Day

Together with the Academy of Arts of the University of Banja Luka, the Confucius Institute

celebrated World Music Day on 21 June 2023, with outdoor performances at several locations in Banja Luka.

Since its establishment in 2018, the Confucius Institute of the University of Banja Luka has

successfully cooperated with the Academy of Arts and is happy to support it in its activities to

bring classical music closer to all citizens in this way, aa well as to present Chinese songs to

them through the performance of the Kerubini Chamber Choir of the Confucius Institute of the University of Banja Luka.

The Confucius Institute strives to present not only Chinese culture to the general public through art, music, science and culture, but also to present the University in the best possible way.

The idea of World Music Day was conceived in 1976 in France. American musician Joel Cohen, who worked on French radio, then proposed an all-night musical celebration on the first day of summer. His idea was accepted five years later by the then French Minister of Culture, Jack Lang. The first celebration called the Festival of Music was held on 21 June 1982 in Paris, and since then, amateurs and professional musicians have been giving free performances on this date all over the globe.
