Delegation of the University of Banja Luka, led by Prof. Dr. Radoslav Gajanin, Rector of the University, participated in the 13th Conference of Confucius Institutes, held on 4 and 5 December 2018 in Chengdu, China.
Apart from Rector Gajanin, the Directors of the Confucius Institute at the University of Banja Luka Cai Ying and Ljiljana Stević participated in the conference.
Тhe 13th Confucius Institute Conference aimed at promoting and improving the quality of Confucius Institutes to build a better and shared future.
The Conference, taking “Boosting Development through Reform and Innovation, Creating Future with Joint Efforts” as its theme, included eight forums for university rectors and 20 workshops focused on the New School-Running Model and Management Mechanism for Confucius Institutes.
Sun Chunlan, Vice Premier and Chair of the Council of the Confucius Institute Headquarters, opened the ceremony by delivering a speech and welcomed the rectors and representatives of the universities from all over the world.
The Rector of the University of Banja Luka and the Directors of the Confucius Institute at the University of Banja Luka participated in the workshops in which they discussed topics such as the opening of Confucius Classrooms as branches of the Confucius Institute, alignment of interests and expectations of partner universities in China and home Confucius University, as well as better cooperation of universities within the Confucius Institute platform.
The second day of the Conference was dedicated to the forums for university rectors who discussed innovative models of improving the work of Confucius Institutes, digitalization process, building of two-way and plural platforms for cooperation, and other important topics relating to the advancement of cooperation and giving of added value to the universities in which students have the opportunity to learn Chinese language, regardless of the area in which they are specializing themselves.
Meeting of the Confucius Institute Executive Board
The Confucius Institute Executive Board had a meeting at which the 2018 Annual Summary Report of the Confucius Institute, results and challenges and possibilities of improving the exchange of professors and students between the two universities were analyzed.
The 2019 Work Plan of the Confucius Institute was also considered during the meeting.
