Professor Drasko Gajic Gave a Lecture on the Chinese Social Policy

Assistant Professor Drasko Gajic, MA, gave a lecture on 17 December 2020 on the Chinese Social System at the Faculty of Political Science, University of Banja Luka, for the students of the Social Work Study Programme at this faculty. This lecture was organized by the

Confucius Institute at University of Banja Luka.


During his one-hour lecture, Professor Gajić, talked about the social policy of the People's Republic of China from its founding until today. He explained that economic migration is common in this country, which is why a system of control over the number of people moving from villages to cities has been introduced.


He further explained that in the 50’s of the last century the People's Republic of China introduced a social security system for rural residents who do not have a family, and during the 80’s and 90’s of the 20th century, reforms and the pension and social system were introduced in order to have a more balanced and coordinated development of social

policy.


In his presentation, professor said that, in addition to increasing employment, the main goal of the Government of the People's Republic of China is to harmonize social policy with the real needs of the population, especially pensioners and residents of rural areas.


Drasko Gajic is a professor at the Social Work Study Programme at the Faculty of Political Science of the University of Banja Luka.
