Talks About the Opening of a Confucius Classroom in Doboj

The public institution School of Economics in Doboj could get a Confucius Classroom,

through which students studying Chinese language and culture will be able to take

internships in Chinese companies operating in this city.


Representatives of the Confucius Institute at the University of Banja Luka, the City of Doboj, the Chinese company Sinopharm and the Doboj School of Economics talked about the possibility of applying for the project of establishing a Confucius Classroom at the meeting held on 27 April 2021. As it was emphasized at this meeting, this school in Doboj fulfils almost all the conditions for opening such a classroom.


Home Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Banja Luka Ljiljana Stević

explained that the Confucius Classroom is a branch of the Confucius Institute. As she pointed

out, to open this classroom, one needs to apply to China and meet certain preconditions. One of the preconditions is that there are Chinese companies operating in the city and that there is

cooperation established with them. As she pointed out, the meeting was therefore also attended by Bruce Juan, manager of the Chinese company Sinopharm operating in Doboj.


Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute Shen Li said that the Confucius Classroom is a step forward after a successful two-year cooperation with the School of Economics in Doboj and that it is a good starting point for other joint projects.


Principal of the School of Economics Tijana Vasiljević Stokić said that the Chinese language has been taught in this school since last year, and that it is also attended by pupils from other

secondary schools in Doboj.


Vice President of the Assembly of the City of Doboj Miloš Bukejlović said that he was satisfied

with the fact that Doboj pupils would have the opportunity to tale internships with foreign

companies as well.


In addition, other forms of cooperation between the Confucius Institute at the University of

Banja Luka and the City of Doboj were discussed. As it was emphasized, the plan is to organize a series of activities in the forthcoming period, in order to promote Chinese culture in this city.


Certificates of Appreciation delivered


On the same day, representatives of the Confucius Institute at the University of Banja Luka

delivered the certificates of appreciation to the pupils from Doboj, who participated in the art

competition organized in honour of this year's celebration of the Chinese New Year.
