The Archeological Film Show was opened on 15 October 2018 in the Museum of Republic of Srpska in Banja Luka with the Chinese archaeological film "Art in the Caves of the Province of Gansu".
The province of Gansu, located in the northwestern part of China, is the cradle of Chinese civilization. This film shows only a part of the artwork that was found in the caves of western China, which has been preserved and has become an extremely rare and valuable legacy.
Assistant to the Minister of Education and Culture of Republic of Srpska Tanja Djakovic emphasized the importance of this film show and stated that it was an opportunity for the public to get acquainted with the latest archaeological discoveries and that the films shown represent the cultural heritage of different countries through which we can gain experience of old civilizations.
The PR manager of the RS Museum Ana Puvacic Bratasevec emphasized that the first day of this event was dedicated to the Chinese heritage, and that the ceremony was opened by the Director of the Confucius Institute, Cai Ying, who presented the work of the Institute to the audience and stressed the importance of supporting manifestations that build mutual understanding of peoples of different cultures.
To present the culture of China to the audience, Ms Cai played on the traditional Chinese instrument Guqin, while the students of Banja Luka Grammar School, who are taking the Chinese language course of the Confucius Institute at University of Banja Luka, presented and performed the traditional Chinese dance.
The honorable guest of the evening was Professor Ostoja Djukic, who presented his book "The Philosophical Thought of China - From the Sons of Heaven to the Dragons of Our Time", shared his views and experiences of being in China with the audience and introduced them with many interesting facts and philosophical thoughts of both ancient and modern China. He pointed out that much can be learnt from this old civilization, and that everyone should travel and experience China, thereby praising the fact that the Confucius Institute has been opened in Banja Luka.
