World Music Day Celebrated

On behalf of the University of Banja Luka, the Confucius Institute symbolically marked the

World Music Day on 21 June 2020 with open-air mini concerts at the University Campus.

With all the protective and social distancing measures in place, prescribed to prevent the

outbreak and spread of the coronavirus, visitors enjoyed the good atmosphere and performances of the City Tamburitza Orchestra Banja Luka, Jazavac City Choir, A Prima Vista Choir, Palladio String Quartet, Banja Luka Brass Quintet, and students of the University of Banja Luka.

World Music Day has been celebrated for over 30 years with free concerts and open-air

performances, in the pedestrian zone and busy walks as well as in public cultural institutions, in hundreds of cities around the world to surprise the public and remind people of the importance of music.

World Music Day was originated more than 30 years ago by the then French Minister of Culture, and the first celebration was held in 1982; it has been celebrated in Banja Luka since 2010.
