Confucius Institute Organizes Exhibition of Chinese Postage Stamps

18.02.2026

In honour of the Chinese New Year, the Confucius Institute of the University of Banja Luka organized the opening and presentation of Chinese postage stamps on 18 February 2026, at the Student Cultural Centre of the University of Banja Luka, which will be open to the public until 27 February 2026.

This collection, owned by Ante Armanini, a writer, playwright and literary theorist from Zagreb, covers the period from the 19th to the 21st centuries. Curators Jarong Chen and Goran Đurđević, professor at the University of Foreign Studies in Beijing, stated that the main part of this exhibition consists of stamps issued after the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949, with selected examples from the late Qing dynasty and the Republic of China.

The content and visual elements of Chinese postage stamps are distinguished by their exceptional diversity and richness, and through these small formats, visitors can gain insight into the political, economic, diplomatic, social and cultural life of China in specific historical circumstances. These stamps represent a window through which visitors can get to know China, and serve to build strong ties of cultural exchange between China and this part of Europe.
